Basecamp and visitor center

Basecamp NORD is located in Måselv Mountain Village at 360 meters above sea level with an amazing view. The building has a total area of 1400 square meters (over 15,000 sqft), and holds incredible possibilities. Inside the building you will find a restaurant, a great dining hall with a long table, play room, souvenir shop and a pub! “Loftet pub” is situated on the second floor and is a charming pub with a wilderness theme. We accept pre-booking of all meals!

The visitor center will receive tourists all year for activities such as Wild Moose Safari, Geo hiking, Horseback riding and Aurora Sky Point, and serve warm soup for the guests inside the restaurant. The restaurant can receive up to 200 guests, and is excellent for weddings, confirmations, baptism parties or birthdays! Destination Snowman has its reception inside the building, and here you can easily book accommodation, activities and transfer for the Bardufoss Region.

You can also book christmas parties at Basecamp Snowman! The restaurant is spacious and generous, and can therefore receive larger groups and still respect the protective measures regarding Covid-19.

Burger restaurant and parties

The venue has a large restaurant and café. The restaurant serves burgers and focuses on local produce and flavors. Here you may be served a reindeer burger with blue cheese and lingonberry dip, moose burger with bacon and garlic dressing, and a great variety of garnish. The restaurant also offers vegetarian and vegan alternatives! The café is open at daytime.

The restaurant area is large and spacious, and the venue is well-suited for birthday celebrations, christmas parties and other events.

Indoor glamping

The indoor glamping at Basecamp NORD is a wonderful experience, and the perfect place for a social hangout with family and friends. Stay in glamping tents, lavvus and mini caravans, and create lifetime memories around the “bonfire”. Sleeping bags and pads are exchanged for spacious and comfortable beds with a luxurious feeling.

Chase the northern lights at Aurora Sky Point

Just outside of Basecamp NORD you will find Aurora Sky Point, where we welcome guests who want to observe the northern lights. Aurora Sky Point is well suited for chasing the northern lights, as it is situated 360 meters above sea level on the hillside with great views over the Målselv Valley. The area also has clear views towars the northern skies! Light pollution from the surroundings is minimal. On cold nights it is especially nice to warm up in our cozy grill hut! It will be pre-heated for our guests.

It is also possible to order food from Basecamp NORD and be served in the Aurora grill hut! Basecamp has toilet facilities and a dressing room available for all guests.

Snowman Fun Zone

During the winter season, Basecamp NORD is surrounded by deep snow, perfect for a day of fun! We can guarantee snow at Basecamp between January and March! Build a snowman or a snow lantern, engage in a snowball fight, create snow angels and experience the winter like the locals do!

If the weather is nice, we light a bonfire outside, and if the weather is extra cold we retreat into the grill hut for extra warmth. Drink coffee or cocoa and grill a sausage in the true northern norwegian way.

At Basecamp NORD you can also rent snowshoes! The surrounding areas have trodden trails, perfect for fun in the snow – for all ages!
